Six kinds of work, and what each one involves

Everything below is work Geekwa Pty Ltd carries out directly for businesses and households across Perth's northern suburbs.

Computer and laptop repair

Desktops, laptops and all-in-ones that will not start, shut down under load, or have taken physical damage. We identify the failed component rather than reinstalling and hoping.

  • No-boot, blue screen and startup loop diagnosis
  • Screen, keyboard, battery and charge port replacement
  • Fan, heatsink and thermal paste service for overheating
  • Storage upgrades and Windows or macOS reinstallation

Small business IT support

Ongoing care for offices with a handful of machines and nobody whose job is looking after them. We keep the fleet current and stay the single point of contact when something stops.

  • Operating system and application patching
  • Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace account administration
  • Printer, scanner and point-of-sale troubleshooting
  • Starter and leaver setup when staff change

Networks and Wi-Fi

Double-brick walls and steel-framed extensions defeat a single router, which is why so many Perth premises have a dead corner. We measure the coverage before recommending hardware.

  • Signal survey and access point placement
  • Router, mesh and business access point configuration
  • Ethernet cabling runs where wireless is the wrong answer
  • Guest and staff network separation

Backup and data recovery

Recovering files from drives that are failing or already dead, then putting in a backup that gets restore-tested instead of merely being switched on and forgotten.

  • File recovery from failing hard drives and SSDs
  • Deleted, corrupted and reformatted partition recovery
  • Local plus offsite backup design
  • Scheduled restore tests so you know it works

Cyber security basics

The unglamorous controls that stop most small business incidents: multi-factor authentication, current patches, real backups and staff who can spot a fake invoice email.

  • Multi-factor authentication rollout on email and banking
  • Password manager setup and shared credential clean-up
  • Malware removal and post-incident clean rebuild
  • Practical hardening shaped around the ACSC Essential Eight

New device setup and migration

Getting a new machine into service with everything from the old one intact, and making sure the old one leaves the building without your data still on it.

  • Advice on what to buy before you buy it
  • Data, email and settings migration between machines
  • Software, licence and peripheral installation
  • Secure wipe of retired drives and devices

Two ways to engage us

Call us once, or keep us on hand

Most people meet us through a single broken thing. That job is quoted on its own, done, and closed — there is no requirement to sign up for anything afterwards.

Businesses that depend on their systems usually move to a standing arrangement instead, where patching, backups and account changes are handled continuously and you have one address to email when something breaks.

What helps us quote faster

None of this is required, but a fault described precisely is a fault we can usually scope without a second round of questions.

What it does

The behaviour itself: no power, a specific error message, drops out at a certain time of day, slow only in one application.

When it started

And what changed around then — a storm, an update, a new device on the network, a move to a different room.

What is on it

Whether there is data on the machine you cannot afford to lose. That single fact changes the order we do everything in.

Email a description of the problem to [email protected] and we will reply with the diagnosis path and a price.
